Why You Should Visit Pensacola In the Fall

Want to know a little secret? Summer isn't the only time to visit the beaches. Locals (secretly) appreciate Pensacola the most in the fall. The beach crowds wane down, the weather is more comfortable, and the risk of hurricanes decreases. There are also several fun events and activities in Pensacola during the fall months that all ages can enjoy. Whether you like to relax on the beach, watch football or come to the fall festivals and events, Pensacola will not disappoint a fall visitor.

Comfortable Weather

Cool mornings and comfortable afternoons are what we?re looking forward to. The Emerald Coast is a well-known hot spot for summer vacations, but it is also incredibly relaxing and gorgeous during the fall season. September through November brings highs in the upper 70s and lows in the 60s to Pensacola, and we couldn?t be more excited about it. After spending summertime relying on air conditioning, fall is the perfect time to get out and explore the beaches, hiking and biking trails, and the parks in Pensacola.

Fishing in Pensacola

Fishing

How does fishing in the 'Red Snapper Capital of the World' sound? The Gulf of Mexico boasts this accolade, and Pensacola?s various bay-fronts and beaches make it a wonderful town to go fishing in. Red fish and Flounder love to bite in the fall, so be ready to reel them in! You can also check out some of the local fishing tours if you want to experience the waters on a charter boat.

Sea Turtle Nesting

The magnificent sea turtles are one of the wonders of living near the ocean. Sea turtles nest from May to October in Northwest Florida and typically emerge at night to lay their eggs in the dunes and return to the sea. Trained volunteers protect the dunes and help the hatchlings if they get lost. Gulf Islands National Seashore is a great place to view the sea turtles without disturbing them in their homes. Most sea turtles are endangered, so observers should be careful when spotting these reptiles.

The Pensacola Interstate Fair

As many of us know, fall is also fair season, and Pensacola does not skimp on this tradition. As it is one of the top 50 fairs in the country, locals relish the memories of visiting the fair each year. The Pensacola Interstate Fair usually has an exciting musical lineup, local exhibits and vendors, and shriek-worthy rides. If the smell of deep-fried food and funnel cakes draws you, plan your Pensacola fall getaway during the fair on October 20-30.

UWF Football

The 2022 football season for UWF will be exciting this year as the team moves their games from Wahoos Stadium to the campus?s Pen Air Field. The University of West Florida Argonauts are a NCAA Division II football team playing in the Gulf South Conference. As the Argos come into the 2022 season holding the 2021 Gulf South Conference champions title, this should be an exciting season for UWF. Get ready to be decked out in blue and green and cheer the team on.
